How can you prevent the infestation from flies What are the different types of flies

The flies are able to reproduce quickly even though they have a short lifespan. Most of the diseases that are spread by flies include tuberculosis, malaria etc.

Where do flies come from?

Mostly the flies make their way into our home through structurally weak points like torn screens or through any damaged spots. They usually hatch outside and later enter our homes. Garbage cans, excrements and compost that can be found around your home is their egg-laying space. One can't easily recognise the egg of a fly as it looks similar to a pea. They usually lay around 75-150 eggs at a time.

Let's discuss the types of flies in this section.

Housefly

The most common type of fly found around the home is the housefly. They can be differentiated from other flies by the four black stripes on their thorax and they are also grey in colour. They have a wider vision because of the red eyes that have hundreds of individual lenses and hairy bodies. Their larvae are known as maggots. The house flies also have a four-phase life cycle which is initiated with the female fly laying eggs on the faeces or on any rotting foods. The contamination of foods is caused by these house flies that have any organisms on their mouth or leg while they are sitting on any decayed items.

Fruit fly

Most of the adult flies are brown in colour. Usually, they have red eyes but some of them have darker shades. Their abdomen appears to be black and grey in colour and have a tanned thorax. They have an antenna and are oval in shape with six legs. Most of the fruit flies consume vegetables and fruits and also liquor, wine etc. The spots they choose to breed are garbage disposals, trash and other drainages where they love to be in dark and wet places.

Horsefly

They being the notorious pests of horses got their name as a horsefly. Most of the mammal hosts can be found near water bodies (suburban and rural regions) which are their breeding spaces. Their eyes are large with green or purple shades that have horizontal stripes. Having short antennas and six legs, they are stout-bodied.

The adult horse flies are great fliers and are fast that they can travel over 30 miles even though they do not scatter so much. Their preys are mostly moving objects especially the dark ones. In wooded areas, they rest and await the arrival of hosts. The horseflies mostly stay near the windows as they are attracted to the lights. They can be seen mostly on sunny days not having so much breeze. But larvae are developed in the soil near water bodies.

How to prevent them?

Only through sanitisation can you prevent the flies from entering your house. You should collect the trash and keep all your surfaces neat and tidy from anything that is trash. Through flies control in Dubai, you can control their infestation and remove them forever.
